From Conflict to Collaboration: Resolution Strategies

Handle the conflict in a way that encourages problem solving and solutions in which all parties get their needs met. Resolve conflict by using a Communication Cycle, which gets at the root issues and causes of conflict

Arguments and disagreements are not dealt with; individuals avoid each other because of unresolved conflict; emotion takes over any discussion or disagreement and clouds the true issues.

  • Use a Communication Cycle to understand the needs of others and to advocate for your own position
  • Recognize different personal styles of handling conflict
  • Work collaboratively to find solutions that meet the needs of all people involved
