Motivating People: Performance Feedback

The only lasting and powerful means of building a self-motivated workforce is by establishing meaningful and supportive relationships. This is most effectively done through performance feedback.

Your employees may need these skills if:
Feedback is infrequent, poorly timed, critical, and damaging to motivation. The only time individuals get an indication of their own performance is at review time.

Program Outcomes include:

  • Recognize the link between feedback and individual performance
  • Handle natural reactions to feedback such as shock, anger, and disappointment
  • Ask for feedback from others in a way that encourages input and dialogue
